Of course you can!

Just as I can post my old, tired euphemisms!

Here's a scenario:

You are peeing standing up.

(for females, check here:http://erinrages.blogspot.com/2007/08/girls-can-pee-standing-up.html)

Nobody is within eyesight.

Night is approaching and a strong gale begins to blow in off the water (approx. wind speed = 9.8 m/s)

If the nearest house is 0.25 kilometers away, what are the chances a droplet of your urine hits a neighbor?

What are the chances of that droplet in hurricane force conditions (wind speed = 55 m/s) ?

And I should bother to think about this because... ?

Well, what's the wind speed here at the Forum?

Inquiring minds want to know when designing special troll-piss deflectors for newbies (don't worry I'll test it on myself first).

Is that windy as in utterance or flatulence? Hard to tell the difference I know.

p.s. That was my lame attempt at an engineering joke. At least I cracked myself up writing it.

I was trying to make a comparison between pissing in the wind and posting in this forum. It's a pretty poor comparison really.

Unless you consider that some people here are letting their kindness, insight, humor to the wind instead of that rancid shit that others tend to propagate.

Okay now my brain hurts too. Peace & Love & Pancakes?

I would guess that pissing into the wind has immediate negative feedback in that the sudden unpleasant cold wet feeling is indicative of an action best terminated. On the other hand forum posting, somewhat akin to pissing in your pants, more often results in that invisible warmth that only you can see and feel.

Thanks Rob, I appreciate the analysis.

Must correct you on one point though - this forum provides a venue for people to piss their pants in public, for everyone to see. And, consequently, there are reprocussions.

This public display of a complete lack of self control by unnamed individuals generates a wide range of emotional response in people browing the forums.

As Diana said, seeing this kind of behavior is disconcerting at best and most of the times, simply off-putting.

I'll just take the position of Switzerland for now. In any case, thank you for entertaining that thought experiment.

If you'll allow me another crack at the whip my point, inadequately expressed, was that some people derive pleasure from saying things that seem clever to themselves but which are transparently derisory to everyone else. Self delusion is a powerful thing - not so much a lack of self control as a lack of self awareness.

And thank you too for your civilised debating skills - they are much appreciated.

"some people derive pleasure from saying things that seem clever to themselves but which are transparently derisory to everyone else. Self delusion is a powerful thing - not so much a lack of self control as a lack of self awareness."

I have found that when someone I respect tells me in a very direct way that I am behaving like an asshole - it serves as a catalyst for self awareness, which in turn leads to a concerted effort on my part to change my behavior in order to be a more pleasant companion and a more humble human being.

Is this kind of cause-effect possible on an internet forum? We shall find out sooner or later.

It's been truly a pleasure to be here this evening. See you next time.
